One of the basic ideas of Islam is to rely on Allah in all aspects of life, asking Him for strength, help and guidance because He created the entire world and is ultimately in charge of all time, adhkar is dua comparable and very important method of prayer. In this article, we will discuss the importance of Dhikr for Muslims.

Dhikr Meaning :

Dhikr, the Arabic word for “remembrance” or “mention,” is adhkar in the plural. However, in religion, it specifies mention and remembrance of Allah (SWT); It is only worship, which means praise Allah, with the heart and the mouth. Some common phrases you may hear are “SubhanAllah”, “Alhamdulillah”, and “MashaAllah” are dhikr. Each of these has a specific meaning, but you can repeat them whenever you want and as often as you want to get great rewards. In addition, there are dhikr (or adhkar) that are unique to particular situations, events, and occasions. Opportunities are designated times for entering and leaving the house, as well as going to bed, getting up, and after prayer (salah).

Dhikr After Salah :

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

He who recites after every prayer: Subhan-Allah (Allah is free from imperfection) thirty three times; Al-hamdu lillah (praise be to Allah) thirty three times; Allahu Akbar (Allah is Greatest) thirty three; and completes the hundred with: La ilaha illallahu, wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa Huwa ‘ala kulli shai’in Qadir

There is no true god but Allah. He is one and no one is His partner. His is the sovereignty and His is the praise, He is the Almighty),

all his sins will be forgiven even if they are as big as a bubble on the surface of the sea.

How to Do Dhikr ?

Try to remember the following six etiquettes while doing dhikr:

  • Consider the importance of dhikr.
  • Never forget that Allah is with you.
  • Correct the mind.
  • Consider the overall benefits of dhikr and the special benefits associated with particular opportunities.
  • Remember the blessings of Allah upon you. For your dhikr to manifest, your heart must be full of praise for Him who is the source of all blessings.
  • Try to stay away from distractions in a peaceful and quiet place.


In short, the best form of worship that brings peace, comfort and emotional and mental peace is the remembrance of the Most Merciful Allah. May Allah grant us the courage to do dhikr daily. Ameen!
